As a licensed professional counselor, Cristyn Smith has worked with children, adolescents, and adults in both a hospital and private practice setting. Her therapeutic approach includes cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, as well as faith-based to meet the unique needs of each client and develop a personalized plan to help them accomplish their individual goals. Cristyn graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas with her Bachelor of Arts in psychology. She studied professional counseling and received her masters from Amberton University in Garland and is licensed by the state of Texas. In addition, she is board certified as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC). Throughout the course of her graduate work and internship she gained training and experience working with children, adolescents, adults, individuals, families, and groups.
Cristyn encourages everyone she works with to be patient with the process, recognizing that it is a process. Within that process it does require active participation from the client, and at times with support from family and close friends. In her practice some of the challenges she addresses include:
• Depression and Anxiety
• Behavioral/Anger Issues
• Body Image/Eating Disorders
• Life Stressors/Transitions
• Family Dynamics
• Marital Issues
Cristyn and her husband live in North Dallas along with their daughter and always curious cat, Albert. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, serving alongside her husband at their church, a good cup of coffee, Mexican food, Rangers baseball, staying active and laughing. If covered by your insurance plan, counseling services will be billed accordingly. If counseling is not covered by insurance, the fee for counseling services is $75.
